Babe's 24th surprise birthday dinner
Within the last three months, I had been planning for my boyfriend's surprise birthday party. I've always wanted to throw a surprise birthday for someone because it's such a nice gesture, and being able to see their face the moment everyone yells 'surprise!' is priceless.
I was thinking of booking reservations for his birthday surprise at Buddakan, but since I had eaten there for my birthday, I wanted to choose a different place. I was not expecting 20 people to make it since a lot of our friends are busy with their schedules and live outside of New York now, but we ended up with a pretty large party. As for the invite list, I invited everyone that was really close with him such as our childhood group, his college suite mates, and some others.
Our childhood group is pretty scattered since some have moved out of the city for work, school, and other personal reasons. Since our group is also quite large, it can be a struggle trying to get everyone to go to a single event. Everyone has their lives to live, ya know? We had two people missing this time, but it was nice having majority of us there. Vinny was really surprised by the people who chose to come back to celebrate his birthday with him. It was so sweet.
I ended up choosing Gyu-Kaku for his birthday spot since it can fit a large group and he really enjoyed the food there. I had everyone gather around at 8pm with balloons and the moment he walked in, everyone yelled 'surprise!' The whole time before this, he was telling me how I was acting fishy and that he felt I was planning something. To try and make him think otherwise, I kind of guilt tripped him by saying, "Oh wow, now I feel bad cause you're making me feel like I should've planned something for you." Hahaha, bitch move but I had to save the situation! Even though he had some sort of idea, he was still surprised and everyone was really happy.
That night is a memorable one and I'm happy we got to spend it with fun people. I did vlog everything so look out for that soon on my YouTube channel! I'm so glad everything turned out just right.
